October, 2005

Thinking snow yet?  It’s hard to when the temp is 85 degrees on October 3rd, but that will change soon enough – this is Wisconsin after all.  After an almost perfect summer with lots of dry days, sun, and warmth, we can all look forward to a dramatic shift.  For those of us who love snowmobiling, that dramatic shift should include lots of snow, and the seasonal cold to keep it on the trails throughout the season.  Last season was better than the previous, and this year many forecasters are predicting lots of snow… and all snowmobilers say Amen.

October and November are traditionally the busiest months for Wisconsin snowmobile clubs.  We have fall fundraisers, elections, trail prep and marking… and this year is no different.  Take a look at the agenda below.

Grass Drags Fund Raiser This Month:  On Saturday, October 22nd the Green Knights will be holding our annual Snowmobile Grass Drag Races at Spaulding Trucking & Excavating on Hwy 76.  Volunteers are needed for set-up the day before, race-day operations, and tear-down the day after, so please let Jessie know what you are able to help out with as soon as possible.

If you have any friends that are snowmobilers but not club members, their help would be more than welcome.  There’s plenty to do for the whole family, and it’s plenty of fun when we have enough people volunteer to get the job done quickly.  This fund raiser helps keep your trail system going in Greenville, so please support your sport.  Note:  Those working on trophy sponsorships need to get sponsor info to Jessie this week.

Club Officer/Board of Directors nominations at this month’s meeting.  Officer/Board nominations will be held this month on Sunday Oct 9th, and elections for club officers will be held at the November 13th meeting.  ALL members are encouraged to come vote, or to offer their leadership as a Club Officer.

Trail Marking:  Trail marking is the same day(s) this year as always – the Saturday before regular gun-deer season starts, and the Saturday after it ends to finish what’s left to mark.  Without help for this task, we simply have no trails to ride.  Those who own ATV’s are always needed, so please let Jessie know if you can make it for either marking date.

Membership Dues:  This season’s Membership Application is printed on the opposite side of the newsletter – please take a moment right now to fill-out and mail-in your check and application.  Thanks!

Meetings:  Monthly meetings are held on the second Sunday evening of each month @ 7:30pm at Greenville Town Hall – mark your calendar for this season.  And as always, more info can be obtained on the Club’s website at:  www.green-knights.com
